Teddies help comfort sick kids heal faster in hospital.
I was recently invited by the Kids Cancer Project Organisation to comment on the value of teddy bears as a resource for children in hospital. As the developer of music and play resources, I know our nigh nigh bear is an exceptionally good tool to help make bedtime a positive experience for kids that are stressed about sleep and waking with anxiety. The combination of music and play therapy is well researched to improve mental and physical healing which can translate to earlier discharge.
Teddies are great for:
• Procedure prep
• A friend for life
• Being there to help with therapy
• Sensory stimulation
Two paediatric experts share why, when it comes to deciding what toys to donate to children in hospital, you should think no further than soft and snuggly teddy bears.
